New York, I Love You, a 2009 film in the Cities of Love series, features a segment directed by Allen Hughes with score by Atticus Ross, Claudia Sarne and Leopold Ross.

The bluray and dvd release of the film is February 2, 2010 and you can preorder today at Amazon.com.

I got the chance to see an early press screening of The Book of Eli tonight and was very excited to hear the soundtrack as it played out in the film. I ended up being very impressed with the story, the cinematography and the way that the music helps to tell the story.

I’ve been a fan of 12 Rounds for over 12 years and have helped to maintain this website for almost that long. I’ve seen 12 Rounds in concert, Claudia and Leopold play with nearLY in Los Angeles and talked with all three, and one of my biggest thrills as a fan of this band was to see a frame in the credits that said the following:

Music by
Atticus Ross
Claudia Sarne
and Leopold Ross.

The Book of Eli is in theaters today. Check it out not just for the music but for the brilliant film the Hughes Brothers have produced.

The Book of Eli soundtrack is in stores and online today, 12 January 2010 and http://bookofelimusic.com/ has some great deals. Buying the CD from them gets you a booklet signed by Atticus Ross. Preordering the 2-LP vinyl release gets you a poster signed by Atticus Ross and the Hughes Brothers.

There are several giveaways going on right now for Book of Eli collectables and swag.

Buddyhead has a cool contest where you can win a poster autographed by Atticus Ross and the Hughes Brothers and a copy of the soundtrack cd.

GoFoBo has a contest with a bunch of collectables including dog tags, iPod skins, tee shirts and more. They also have sneak preview screening opportunities in many U.S. cities.

The Book of Eli movie website also has a section where you can sign up for similar collectables giveaways from other sites.

The soundtrack is in stores on cd and available digitally from iTunes and elsewhere on Tuesday, January 12. The iTunes version has four extra tracks, including a remix by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.

The movie is in theaters on Friday, January 15.

After a brief holiday delay, Sioux 86 is now available for streaming and download in multiple formats right here at 12rounds.net.

Bookofelimusic.com is now available with short clips of several songs from the original score composed by Atticus Ross and performed by Atticus Ross, Claudia Sarne, Leopold Ross and for some songs a full orchestra. There are lots of fun bits available there including a video interview clip, some photos documenting the production and information about the different physical and digital releases. The iTunes exclusive edition seems to contain the most extras with four bonus tracks:

The Book of Eli Update and Atticus featured on call-in radio show

The Book of Eli’s website has gotten a major overhaul and now includes some soundscapes from the movie score by Atticus Ross (featuring Claudia Sarne, Leopold Ross and an orchestra).

Atticus Ross is also scheduled to take part in an online call-in radio show on 12/27/09 to discuss the score.

UPDATE: Atticus was unable to make the call-in show and will be rescheduled as a guest for a future date. 12rounds.net apologizes for any confusion we may have caused.

Xocet

As many of you have already noticed, Xocet is now available to download and stream on the site and streaming elsewhere as well. It is the second “new” track to be released from the site with more to follow in the months ahead.

12 Rounds have been slightly delayed in getting the free tracks to us because they have been working on the film score for the Hughes Brothers’ new motion picture, The Book of Eli, which premieres in theatres January 15, 2010.
